Tax to think about.Reply: Nathan
I recently learned from a neighbor that you only pay tax on the gas if you own the tank as it becomes a sale of product to you. If you rent the tank, you do not pay tax on the gas as it remains a service. Depending on how much you use, the tax might out weigh the tank rental cost. I chose to rent it and pay the gas rate of what they gave me. They told my neighbor, as he has them, that he only pays $1.99 for regular price. I am not sure why hos was different but the tax is definitely something to consider. Hope this helps too.

Pedley vs All State PropaneReply: Michael D
Thanks, Nathan.
Made a call to my 12 year supplier--Pedley
Current price is 2.89 vs 1.99 at All State (owner tank)
Tank rental is $75 vs $89 at All State(and higher if getting a smaller tank)
Pedley says that historically they are the same price per gallon over time and cautioned me not to be swayed by introductory prices. Pedley would pick up their old tank if I switched and said they would credit remainder of rent and gas in old tank.
Our household uses less than 100 gallons per year. I have not found out how much these tanks would cost to own, or if its a good idea--considering the explosive danger.

Allstate Propane $1.69galReply: Nathan
I just got my propane installed at my new house today. I chose Allstate Propane. I did a bit of shopping around and they were the cheapest I could find. $1.69gal intro and $2.09gal regularly. They were awesome guys, checked everything out for me and even when I did not have all my appliances hooked up, they came back at no charge, which all including them do not normally do. You can also get $20 of free propane for each referral.

Call Clint (909) 856-7620 - Tell him Nathan on Rolling Meadows referred you.

Hope this helped.
