Cindy, we have assurance from Western that they have been in contact with their security company about allowing parking in thier lot if the meeting room parking area is overflowing for our meetings.

Resolving Parking Issues At The Lake Mathews Community Meeting RoomReply: Cindy Ferry
Nathan, it was not my "Opinion" that we had to park on El Sobrante, we did have to park on El Sobrante. I was VERY GLAD to see a good turn out for that meeting, but the security guard for the lot would not allow us to park anywhere but in the spaces for the meeting room, which had reached overflow capacity and there were at least four cars trying to find a place to park. We were told we were not allowed to park over by the water company lots and that we would HAVE TO park out on El Sobrante and walk down to the meeting room. We almost left, but I wanted to be there to hear what those running for Supervisor had to say about how they would serve us if elected. That was the only thing that kept us there that night. Me with my Arthritic feet, knees and hips and Allen still recovering from his knee surgery and he dropped me off out front and parked out on El Sobrante and made the walk in and the walk back out to get the truck and pick me up after the meeting. I came in and told Debbie (legislative assistant for Supervisor Bob Buster for our area) and some of the RAGLM board members that there were folks outside trying to park and couldn't find a place, while parking spaces sat there empty and unable to be used. I requested then that someone speak with the people from the water company to allow residents to park in their spaces on the nights of our community meetings. We are clearly outgrowing the meeting room and it's limited parking. That's a good thing, in my "Opinion." But, when we do have a nice sized turn-out as that one was, we should not have to park out on El Sobrante when there are safer, near-by parking spaces right there. That was my point and my "request." If RAGLM has now addressed that issue, great, I look forward to being able to attend and get around at the meeting room. Being the expansion of Cajalco has always been an important issue and much recourse has been given by many from all sides, I was only trying to divert another situation such as the one created during the Supervisor Debate RAGLM Community Meeting.

ParkingReply: Laurie
Acually Nathan many parked on El Sobrante for the Candidate's forum, because of the misunderstanding of a Water company emplyee about the use of their parking areas for any overflow we have for our meetings, which greatly reduced the available parking for that meeting.

But I believe that that has since been addressed and use of the parking in the water company lot should not be an issue in the future, thus eliminating any need to park on El Sobrante Road.

Parking for MeetingReply: Nathan
Tonnette,
Please do not get discouraged by ones opinion. To the best of my knowledge no one has had to park on the street for our meetings as that would be an illegal place to park, if that did happen we apologize for the issue. We did have an overflow issue for the candidates forum meeting, however the issue has been addressed and the water district is aware of our meeting and I have been informed they are instructed to allow us to park in their lot. To my knowledge, we have not had a problem since the candidates forum meeting and I can not promise we will not have an issue in the future, however it has been addressed and we will stay on top of it. The next meeting is a very informative on and we hope to see you all there.

Parking on El Sobrante for meetingReply: Tonette

Haven't been to a meeting in ages, been wanting to, was looking forward to going on the 18th, but now maybe I won't.

July 18 RAGLM Community Meeting-Cajalco Rd IssueReply: Cindy Ferry
Someone from RAGLM needs to make sure the Water Comp. tells their guard to let residents park in front of the Water Comp. once the meeting room parking fills up.  That was a real pain, being told we had to park out on El Sobrante and walk down to the meeting room when the debate ofr electionf for Supervisor was held there.  I would imagine there will be a large turn-out for the Cajalco Rd. issue and we will need to be able to park in the Water Company parking spaces.  Debbie, from Supervisor Buster's office should be able to take care of that, since she attends the meeting to report to our Supervisor on them.  She was there for the last over-flow problem there.  That would be my request.  Parking and walking on El Sobrante when there are parking spaces right there in the same lot is unreasonable.

July 18 - Save the date! (Cajalco)Post: Laurie
RAGLM's monthly community meeting on July 18 will feature Juan Perez, who will be giving us an update on the Cajalco expansion.   Don't miss this meeting!

The meeting is at the community Meeting Room adjacent to the new Fire Station #4, located on El Sobrante Rd. beginning at 7pm.

From Cajalco Road, take El Sobrante to the signal light.  Turn left into the fire station (Western Municipal Water District building will be on the right, as you turn.    Then make an IMMEDIATE left turn again, and you will be looking at the community Meeting Room.

Hope to see you there!
