Unbuilt Parkway IssueReply: Cindy Ferry
I'm saying that the expansion of Cajalco has been in the works for over 40 years and needs to be done. That said, this is in NO WAY my approval to do any damn thing they want with Cajalco Rd. It MUST be done correctly. I want it done the way the roads dept. had planned before RCTC started sticking their nose in and wanted a bring a freeway through. A parkway, expressway ... two to four lanes, that is what the county was planning on and that is something I can agree to ... given again that it is done correctly. I do not want a freeway ... 6 or more lanes through this area. The habitat will never survive under those kinds of conditions. Rather than addressing the problem with Moreno Valley's traffic going to and from jobs in LA, get the county to start really working on bringing jobs to Riverside County itself and the whole problem will fix itself. If we have to address transport, lets make it transportation of goods within the Inland Empire itself, goods made and sold here. Bring agriculture back to Riverside County as well as other businesses. I think farming has also be brought to a fine art and would most likely use less water in the long run then homes and corporate businesses would. So, I'm in favor of reasonable expansion work on Cajalco Rd. and the county doing more to stop residents from having to make these commutes to LA for work and bring jobs to the Inland Empire. My preference, bring agriculture back to Riverside. It's becoming a lost art in America, not just here, but would cold be the point in which that starts to change.

What action do you want us to take here?Reply: Nathan
Cindy,
I saw this a week or so ago when it came out. I am unsure what you want us to do. Do you want us to call and support the county and if so why? From what I understand, the county said they were going to buy/take some land for the parkway and later decided to not use it for whatever reason. During this interim period, it is my understanding that the land owner could not do anything with their property as they were told the county was taking/buying it. Now that the county does not need it, they are giving it back and the land owner is not happy for the loss of revenue that might have been made in the time waiting for the county to take action. If I am correct on this, doesn't the land owner have a valid point here? If I am wrong please help me shed some light on it, as I guess I am not fully clear on the whole process here.

I do not want the parkway/freeway at all, but I do believe the county can not say one thing and do another at the expense of the residents.

Again, if I am missing something here, please let me know so I too can call on it.

If you want to keep the FREEWAY out of our rural, habitat sensitive community, I request that you send an e-mail to your Supervisor (Bob Buster), the Board of Supervisors and Juan Perez, in the County Planning Dept. You'll find their e-mail addresses in the "Sent To" area of this post. They have taken this community into consideration and spent many, many man hours addressing this community, hearing from RAGLM board members, other area groups and environmental groups. If we are willing to speak up when we feel things are done wrong, we also need to speak up when they are done right. The county needs our support and needs to hear from you to know that taking this one to court is the right thing to do. The developers can come to the table and work out the issue of this land. I ask you to take a few minutes from you busy day to let your county representatives know that you support their choice to adjust the previous RCTC plans to bring a FREEWAY (not a cute "parkway") through this rural, habitat sensitive area.
