Fine Gravel (rocks) In Water System Isn't UnsualReply: Hugh
Although I've never experienced zero water pressure we have on occasion had fine gravel/sand build-up in some of our indoor faucets and toilets - I have no filters. From what I've been able to find out this is not abnormal nor is it the fault of the water district. It's merely a fact of life. I do no drink tap water or use it for cooking, I use filtered water.

It's never too late to document.

Rocks in our waterPost: KepSter
I had to call the water company and have them flush out the pipes because small rocks were getting into my sprinkler valves and causing them to not shut off.  We are drinking this water!  The first day, they just flushed it out about 7 feet short of my meter.  They later decided on their own to come back out and flush it all the way out my meter.

They didn't get all the rocks out so I had to install a filter on the main supply to my valves.  I already had one for the house so no rocks ever seen inside the house.

I also explained to them how our pressure drops to zero psi occasionally.  They seemed surprised to hear that even though all my neighbors up to a block away have the same problem.  I think I should have documented all this in a letter (or letters) to them.

I have a lot of complaints about our water company!
