FireworksReply: Laurie
Please all, keep in mind that all fireworks are illegal in the county. Please refrain from the temptation to set off your own, and attend a legal, public display instead. Our vegetation is extremely dry, and water supplies low. Please be considerate of your neighbors-remember that many here lived through the Cerritos fire and had to evacuate their homes, family and animals because someone was careless. As noted earlier, many of your friends and neighbors don't feel that they can enjoy the holiday because others Many of your friends and neighbors are unable to get fire insurance coverage and the remainder who have, have had to pay much higher premiums in recent years. Is it worth the risk? Fire risk aside-something else that came to my attention in the past few days that I myself had never considered: some of our veterans are bothered by the noises made by fireworks. Please, be considerate and refrain from setting off fireworks.

Please, everyone on Via Liago, be vigilant about your southmost neighbors. Two years in a row shooting off Disneyland-class fireworks eastwards over Gavilan Peak. Their choice has made it so that I never leave home on the 4th, which is unfair. Thanks for the info, Nathan.

Illegal Fireworks - Do Not Call CALFIRE call the SheriffPost: Nathan
I have been informed that we are not to contact the fire department this year for reporting of illegal fireworks. We must contact the sheriff's dept. as CALFire has been instructed not to go out on these calls for safety reasons.

Instructions to CALFire:
1-Do not patrol your communities for the use of illegal fireworks.

2-Do not touch any fireworks that are hand wrapped without printing on them. These present a greater danger to those in possession of them.

3-Treat any items dropped off at your station in your absence as a potential destructive device if the product is not clearly visible from a distance.

4-Fireworks calls will be broadcast to the appropriate law enforcement agency. They may or may not have the resources to immediately respond to the area.

5-If you receive a call to your facility reporting the illegal use of fireworks, please refer the caller to the appropriate law enforcement agency for their community.

6-Please encourage your family members and friends to celebrate the holiday without the use of fireworks. There will be a zero tolerance enforcement effort regardless of who the users are.
