Expecting BetterReply: Hugh
Roy makes a very valid point. However, at this point we have little information regarding the two shootings. I heard on KFI AM 740 that one of the vehicles in question was driving very slowly with their lights out right by the house the police were guarding.

It may be, but I would be surprised, that the officers just openly fired on the passengers in the vehicles in question without some reason.

My son-in-law is a San Bernardino Sheriff and the restrictions they have to work with regarding criminals, or suspected criminals, is alarming. Our "Officers" are expected to be like Mother Teresa, when the criminals are like, well - criminals. In dangerous circumstances troubling things can happen. I stand on the side of the police until I know, without doubt, otherwise.

I expect better.Reply: Roy
First, I support our Police.  Second, I expect them to behave professionally and to identify people positively or at least wait until an openly hostile and life threatening move is made, before firing on Civilians.

I know the police are on edge and that the job is rough right now.  Understandable.  However, we have rules of engagement for our Soldiers that forbid the conduct that we have seen twice now.  Why would we as Citizens expect to be treated worse by our own Police, than others receive from our Soldiers?  I don't think that is asking too much.

In Support Of The PoliceReply: Hugh
No one likes to see innocent people shot by the police. However, in this situation I personally would not refer to them as 'out of control.' These officers are in an extremely difficult and dangerous situation.

This Dorner character is about as treacherous as they get. With the training and experience he has and the mental state he's in puts him in a very special category. And, from what I've heard he's a pretty smart guy as well - not your usual nut-ball. He seems to have a well defined plan to assassinate as many individuals on his very long list as possible.

Shoot and ask questions later...

Police are out of controlReply: SteveS
If you drive anything resembling the suspect's vehicle (dark colored Nissan pickup) STAY HOME! Police have already blindly shot several innocent people because they were in a similar vehicle.

Cops are thickReply: Lisa
I have been to OC and back. I saw 3 grey Nissan trucks pulled over. I'd hate to be driving one of those right now. 15 North, Magnolia off ramp was the last, just 30 minutes ago. Off ramp closed and 3 cop cars surrounding the Nissan. And it was a Frontier not a Titan that they are looking for. I hope they find him soon. I heard they may have him in San Diego??? Anyone heard anything lately?

Not a MarineReply: BillB
According to the LA Times, this guy was a Navy Reservist, not necessarily a Marine. Also, there was no mention of him being a "sharpshooter". He is obviously a head case, but this is no Rambo. I'm sure he is long gone from our area.

police shootings Reply: Laurie
Nathan, there was a situation in Corona as well - Magnolia at the
I-15.  Same suspect, from what I'd read.

The onramps and offramps there were closed for a while as a result.

Police Shot in Riverside This Morning - Suspect is Loose and Ex-Cop/MarinePost: Nathan
Just wanted let everyone know as this is a little close to home. This guy is an ex-marine apparently a sharp shooter and has left a very chilling note about how good he is and how he will die in the process of capture. Not sure his intentions but this happened on Magnolia and Arlington this morning. He bragged about his survival skills etc. Just thought I would let you all know, pay attention down town today.

I am sure you can find many articles, just found this one first on Google as I saw it on the TV this morning.
