Its public record so why it so different here???  If you want someone caught you have to use the tools you have  We have worked too hard to have scum take it from us and get away!!!

The wild-west of Riverside CountyReply: BillB
Welcome to the lawless hills of the Lake Mathews COI. Years ago then sheriff Cois Byrd told me, "you are pretty much on your own up here." It takes anywhere from two hours to two weeks for police to respond to our neighborhood. If it's security you want you have two choices: Move back to the city or take matters into your own hands. Just remember, though, this is still California where only criminals can own guns.

THEFT/IDENTIFICATIONReply: JB
I find it quite ridiculous that IDENTIFYING information should be withheld.  THAT IS THE PURPOSE OF A LICENSE PLATE!!!  It is no different than saying the suspect had a tattoo and describing it.  In fact, the plate number is LESS personally identifying in that it does NOT give the personal information of the vehicle owner or user to anyone other than LAW ENFORCEMENT.

I AGREE WITH BRENDA ...PLASTER THE SUSPECT INFORMATION EVERYWHERE.  WHAT IF THIS WAS SOME PEDOPHILE / SEX OFFENDER ?!!!!  WOULD WE REALLY BE SO HESITANT?  COME ON.... QUITE GIVING ALL THE POWER AND CONTROL TO THE PERPETRATORS !!!

just my opinion as well

mail theftsReply: Beverley
Has anyone reported the evidence of mail theft to the USPS?  Isn't it a federal crime?  They should be involved I should think.  Of course, call back from our local police should be prompt to address our concerns.  Good idea to bring it up at the upcoming meeting if that is an option?

Mail theft/Sheriff's Dept.Reply: Brenda
It's obvious the Sheriff's Department won't take the citizens they are sworn and paid to protect any mind, unless it involves a shooting, so I think the best thing to do is post pictures of the vehicle along with suspect info and the license plate number all over the area as a warning to all in the area.  Just my opinion, of course.

License Plate NumbersReply: Sandy
I do not think we should post ANY personal information on this website such as names or license plate numbers.  I suggest all of you that have the license number call the sheriff's office.  If they receive enough calls, they will listen.  Also, the sheriff will be at the RAGLM meeting on February 19 and this would be your opportunity to discuss your concerns at that time.

Mail theft continuedReply: cinder465
I DO have the license plate number of the vehicle I saw in the hills matching the description of the car that was seen stealing mail behind a UPS truck. I also found opened mail from several different residences discarded around where this vehicle was parked. I have tried repeatedly to pass this information on to the Deputy in charge of the case to no avail. (left about 6 messages) I practically give up...so think it might be a good idea to get the number out there just so we can all be aware and to watch it if in the area.

Burglary- Box/Package found off Gavilan RoadPost: J&G
Hello.  Yesterday, 2/3/14@ approx 5pm, my husband found a package off Gavilan road heading south into the woodsy area with all the pretty trees where people stop and hike. The box was tossed off to the side of road near that house which is up on that hill with all different things/cars on the yard.  I think it is a blue house with a dirt driveway.

The box has obviously been opened torn open and the package slip is gone. OnTrac.com is the shipping company.  I have taken a picture.  The person this box belongs to is: a Brian off Hawkeye Road.  I have more details. So if anyone knows this person let them know.  I plan to stop in this week and give them the box. If anyone is wondering about dusting for fingerprints, I doubt the PD would take them.

Also, I believe I read someone stated during this alert thread that they had a suspect vehicle license plate.  In my work experience, there is nothing that will prevent you from posting a license plate, especially when license plates are in public view/public record and related to a crime.  You are not invading anyone's privacy.  I never saw the info on this plate come out, so hoping it will.  I hope it was reported and maybe we can get a crime alert flier warning residents about the suspect and vehicle description.  If so, let's post that on Gavilan Girls, Gavilan Gossip (FB), Everywhere,,,, to warn neighbors. Maybe RAGLM can send a general alert about the information without naming names on who gave the plate info.
THANK YOU!!!!
