90% of Lake Mathews is ok with the Govt spying on them.Post: SteveS

Are you ok with the government collecting your phone records, internet usage and who knows what else without probable cause or a warrant?

Michigan Republican Justin Amash, who is furious that US citizens are under surveillance even if they are not involved in a formal criminal investigation submitted an amendment to the Defense Appropriations Bill.

The text reads:

Ends authority for the blanket collection of records under the Patriot Act. Bars the NSA and other agencies from using Section 215 of the Patriot Act to collect records, including telephone call records, that pertain to persons who are not subject to an investigation under Section 215.

On July 24th the HR voted against (205/217) the amendment to the Defense Appropriations Bill.

The current President, Barack Hussein Obama, opposes the NSA amendment, but the American people overwhelmingly support it. Did our Rep stand with the WH or the Constitution?

Although the Greater Lake Mathews area includes both the 41st and 42nd districts, It's the 42nd (represented by Ken Calvert) that encompasses 90% of our community.

Ken Calvert, (42nd District) agrees with Obama and voted 'No" against the amendment.

BTW- Mark Takano (41st District) voted "Aye"

They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.
