Hello Cindy,

Thanks for your continued interest on this project, we recognize that it’s one that will be very beneficial to the area. Our designers are aware of the water issue out there and did receive good feedback from the community at the recent RAGLM meeting which we attended. We have also had the Environmental Health Department go out this last year to investigate the water issue and their conclusion was that it is coming from irrigation run-off, springs, or some other natural source as I recall. We will be installing a concrete curb and wide gutter along one side so that the water can travel on concrete and not deteriorate the asphalt pavement as it flows on it. Concrete cross gutters will also be installed where the water crosses the road to again keep it from deteriorating the asphalt.

The info that you sent is describing more of a vault that captures water, which would require constant pumping out which is very time and cost -intensive. The concrete curb and gutter concept should work well here to address the concern.

We are anticipating going to the Board by late August/early September to advertise the project, and awarding a construction contract by late October, with work to begin soon after that. We are also including guard rail safety improvements on parts of Gavilan as part of this job.

Regards,

Juan

Juan Perez & Suppervisor Bob Buster, please take a look at this product I've placed a link to below. This is the type of thing I was saying needs to be put in along Gavilan Rd. to address the water from the springs and run-off from the mobile home park. This water runs 24/7 and if not properly addressed prior to the new roadwork being done on Gavilan, we will just be throwing good money after bad. I've seen this product in use in other areas of CA. and every time I see it I think of Gavilan Rd. and how well something like this is suited for that water problem there.

Has the county roads dept. looked into something like this to address that problem? I think it would save the county tons of money every year in road repairs. When is the roadwork on Gavilan now set to take place?
