I support neighbors watching out over their community, but that said, be sure to check your liability. If you, your car or anything is damaged or harmed, it's on you ... totally. Plus, they ... the bad guys can sue you and it will be a civil matter. You will not be covered in any way by the Sheriff's Dept. or any County of Riverside codes or such. You will be acting totally on your own, at your own risk and liability. I just wanted everyone to be aware of what this does include. With all the information, you can make a more informed choice. The choice is yours, but do know what you are agreeing to. Personally, I think the laws should be more like Florida, where you can just kill the little bastards if they come onto your property to take anything. Not that I want to kill anyone, but I sure think that would be allowed and with the time it takes to get police response out here, it's needed.

I know a lot of you have asked so I have looked into it a little further. I spoke with the Sheriff's and they mentioned that it is up to us to organize our own group. They will come out to help. Here is a simple step process of how to start one.

1.  Talk to your neighbors and see if they are interested.
2.  Get together and meet regularly. Deputy Thomas and his associates stated they will come out for your first meeting and provide a starter pack. They also mentioned they are willing to come to quarterly or so meetings for updates.
3.  I have been told by others that some of the neighbors switch off which days they will each patrol the neighborhood. Just some ideas as it is completely up to you and your neighbors to decide how much or how little you want to do.
4.  Report any bad activity.

It does seem to be that easy. I did however find a website with some good information and starter kits as well if anyone is interested. I know I am going to get one together in my neck of the woods as I have been asked multiple times and I too want to start one. Hope this helps.
